Assignment 42

Assignment 42: This was an interesting one. Unfortunately, it was on the back of one of my favorite pages so I had to lose the left half of that page too. I decorated it a little bit, some old, sparkly star stickers from my scrap-booking days and a new message for whoever finds in. I had originally intended to leave it at the mall when I went to see Benjamin Button, but I ended up leaving it on one of those cushy chairs at Starbucks after a musical rehearsal. I hope someone nice and creative finds it and takes care of t.

Assignments 40 and 41

Assignment 40Assignment 41

Assignment 40: Wow, I broke 40 assignments, that seems like a lot to me. I began this in study hall (weird looks galore, of course), and finished it at home. It is pretty gooey, and the coolest part is the print that some of the stuff made.
Assignment 41: I guess this is what happens when you give a sixteen year old a 30 pack of sharpies for her birthday. This one turned out really well.

Googlies

By the way, I finally did something with the cover. I saw the googly-eyes in our craft cabinet and knew that they would be perfect.

Let the catching up begin...

Knitting first.

Raspberry Beret
Pattern: One Day Beret by Kirsten Kapur
Yarn: Malabrigo Yarn Silky Merino in Rupestre
Needles: US 6 and US 5

On Ravelry, I'm calling it the Raspberry Beret. Apparently, that's the name of a popular song by Prince. I was unaware, but I don't have a problem with appearing more "in to that" than I actually am. I finished this in about two weeks, despite the title. Probably because she originally wrote the the project for a thicker yarn. I love this beret so much, it's soft and really pretty, not to mention that I easily edited the pattern to fit my incredibly large head (always a plus).

Front view
Pattern: Gnomey Child's Hat by Adrian Bizilia
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Encore Chunky
Needles: US 10
I knit this adorable thing for my new cousin (second cousin? He's my cousin Tiffany's baby) Lachlann. This was a really fast knit and better yet, the yarn is very soft, washable, and incredibly cheap (I think it set me back about six dollars). Plus, I have a ton of it left, if any more babies come along, I'll have a pattern all ready.

:D

What I looked like when I just got my braces on is here. (honestly, I can't bear to repost this picture, my teeth looked so horrible) This was taken

Another picture, this one is much more recent. According to Flickr, I took it on November 28th.

New Scarf Joy

And now, after more than three and a half years of metal in my mouth.
Look ma, no braces

No braces, and feelin' fine... Adios!

Follies

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but this year, I got in to the school musical, Follies. I don't have a big role, I'm in the ensemble (I am only a sophomore) but I've been having a good time working on the show. The plot is pretty complicated, but I'll give a brief summary. Basically, it centers around two couples in the 70's. The two women Phyllis and Sally used to be best friends and perform in a musical revue called the Weissman Follies as chorus girls. But that was during the twenties when they were young, now them, their husbands Ben and Buddy, and everyone else from the Follies have returned to the old theater, to gather together one last time before it is about to be bulldozed and made in to a parking lot. The characters sing their old songs from the show and try to deal with the emotional problems they have in their lives.
It's got some great songs and really difficult dance numbers (a problem for me, I'm no dancer) but I'm having a lot of fun. I just hope we'll be ready in time for our performances at the end of February. I have a dance rehersal today which probably won't go that well, but I'm trying to be optimistic. Adios!
