My Basically Renovated Computer

Like the title says, my dad has basically renovated the computer I'm typing this on right now. He deleted everything from it, saving my important files (like my iTunes library) on his iPod and then reinstalled everything. What we've found though is that this new version doesn't come with iPhoto which is why I had to upload the pics to my mom's computer and transfer them to this one. If the photos look a little weird, that could be why.
On a totally unrelated note, this Friday was Jam Day. Some of my favorite acts were: Kate and Chetna doing a scene from Wicked, Macie singing No Good Deed (also from Wicked), this kid named Jhonny who Hula-Hooped to "Johnny B Goode," a teacher and his son CJ doing a Bob Dylan song and Sadie and Rachel's dance to some song that I know I should know that's really dumb but I can't remember the name of. Today, (other than reading the bulk of The Da Vinci Code) I went on a hike with my family. It was a short hike but it was really pretty at the top.

The view of the rural Schoharie farm was really pretty.

Luckily mi hermanito brought his monocular (a one-lensed binocular) so we could see better.

I don't know what it is about mountain overlooks but they always take my breath away.
Later today, I went to Target with mom and mi hermanito so we could return a pair of shorts that didn't fit. I got the coolest necklace. Adios!

SOUL PATROL!

In case you did not know, Taylor Hicks is now our new American Idol! I haven't said anything about it here but I've been following the show since the final 12 were selected. My personal favorite was Elliott Yamin but sadly, he got voted off after reaching the top three. That left Katharine McPhee(who I've been getting bored with) and Taylor Hicks(our new American Idol). I'm now a new member of the Soul Patrol. Adios!

Niska-Rific!

Before I begin to explain the Niska-Day joy, I promised I would post pictures of my finished One Skein Wonder and for once, I delivered. I'm totally happy about how it came out, other than the cast-of which could have been looser (I don't care to rip it out and do it over) and I love it.

It's very comfortable and it matches a lot of my shirts. Sadly, since it was freezing today, I didn't actually wear it the whole day. I suppose I'll save it for warmer weather.
Now on to the Niska-Licious fun (you know you want to hear about it). Today, I watched the parade with Mom, mi hermanito, Aunt Amy, cousins Jessy and Elizabeth, Nick, Kate and her dad Hank. Speaking of him, some scheming went on at the arade and it all started with this.

Soon everyone was being photographed with the carrots!

The carrots by the way, were made for my mom and mi hermanito, (made by my mom) because they marched with the Roots and Wisdom people in the parade. Those carrots are just like their logo (which my mom designed).

Other than that, the parade included lots of interesting stuff including: two bag-pipe groups, amazing floats, a lot of marching bands, several Girl Scout Troops, and this balloon seller.

For the rest of Niska-Day (more like for the next thee hours) I hung out with Kate and Nick at the fair. We toured the craft booths, ate lunch, had some ice-cream and each got a magnet with a picture of the three of us on it. Pretty sweet day I must say!
Adios and happy Niska-Day!

Pictures!

For an explanation of the events in the pictures, look to the previous post. ¡Gracias!

Me, carrying a pair of oars from the dock to the boathouse.

Mis amigos de Crew, Laura y Morgan. They were kind of having a spaz-attack when my mom took this picture.

And finally, a bunch of us (11 people I think) carrying up the Oct. I'm in the second row from the front, across from Maria (the girl with the gray tank and black sweat pants).

p.s. I haven't mentioned he weather much lately but this message on the family bulletin board should give you a clue as of what it's been like for (most of) the last week.

I Wasn't Lying When I Said I Was Busy!

I don't really care to go in to all of the things keeping me busy but I assume you trust me in that I would've updated if I had the time. Anyway, I've had two Crew races this week. The first one was against the Mohawk Home School Team. I was in a Quad with three other people who were all in their first season of rowing so we lost (by a lot). I had a lot of fun anyway. The next race (against our district's rival, Shen) went much better for us! I was in the Oct and we won by a lot! Probably by about a minute. One of the Shen girls caught a massive crab during the race! Her oar was practically perpendicular to the water! What's worse for them, they totally came to a halt when this happened (you're supposed to keep going when you catch a crab)! It was pretty surprising how much we beat them by. Sorry, I'm rambling about our greatness but redemption is sweet.
I've also finished the One Skein Wonder! I've yet to take a picture of it but tomorrow, there will be a post including me wearing that amazing thing. Why you ask will there be a post? Well it's a bit obvious (if you live here)…

IT'S NISKA-DAY!!!

That's all for now blogger-land residents. ¡Hasta MaƱana!

Me Gusta Flores

This title actually says two things about my post. Most obviously, this post is going to be about flowers because the title translates to "I Like Flowers" but it's also in Spanish not only because I love Spanish but because I went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner last night and forgot to blog about it. Let's go in chronological order, shall we?
So last night I went to Moe's for dinner and I love that place! It has all of these signs on the walls with cool graphics and messages on them. Our favorites were "If you can't take the heat, try milder salsa," "If quesadillas could talk, it would be terrifying," and "If you don't have fun saying guacamole you're probably pronouncing it wrong." I'm Noah's meal was called "Puff the Magic Dragon!"

Now about los flores. In addition to our bouquet of Lilacs we picked a bouquet of Lilies of the Valley.

Now one last thing un-related to flowers or Espanol, my knitting. The One Skein Wonder is going great!

Well,

I've had quite a busy week I must say so I might as well get right to the point and quickly. Last Wednesday, Mrs. Rice told us that anyone could audition for a solo for the song "Blue Moon." And after two auditions, I got the part(!) and performed it at the chorus concert on Wednesday. Everyone told me I did a good job, even people I didn't (and still don't) even know. I was so nervous standing up there and my voice sounded weird to me with the microphone but luckily, yesterday I got another chance to sing for the entire 7th and 8th grade student body and I pretty much nailed it. It felt really good! Another thing that's really good, my knitting, the One Skein Wonder is coming along great. But, more amazing things to come, canceled crew match aside, I'm getting pretty darn sporty on Mother's Day, I'M GOING TO A RED SOX GAME! I promise I'll have game and knitting pics for tomorrow, really. Adios!

p.s. I can't believe I forgot the dance and one other (related) thing. The dance was fun but there weren't that many people there and they kept playing High School Musical. Then, Kate slept-over and we talked for hours. There was a little "Middle School Drama" but all in all, a fun night. Adios, for real this time.

Kates post

Hi, everybody! It's Kate! I'm over here at Emily's house and I made her promise to knit with her mom while I write this post. So far, we decided what we're wearing to the dance, made two batches of banana muffins and surfed AE.com for a while. We're about to go out for dinner, and then on to the dance! We are planning on posting after the dance, but besides that, since, Kara, we know you're not satisfied by JUST A post, we will also send you a detailed recap/itinerary of the dance to satisfy your especially picky needs. Anyway, I will post on my blog now! Bye!

Pink!

It was a fairly busy Saturday! I went to Sunday school and we made these pretty awesome bracelets. We're supposed to count the beads to meditate or when we're worried like worry beads from Greece or a rosary. It's pretty sweet There is silver bead that says "Imagine" because Marta thought that was a good thought to meditate on and the beads are blue because at my church, each class has a color and ours is blue. After church I went to Subway with mom for lunch, came home, and talked on the phone with Kate (while doing homework). Once I finished my homework (finally). I went to see Amy and the girls (my aunt and cousin) because my Nana had stopped by on her way home from a huge tag-sale in Katonah. My Nana gave me an awesome feather boa that was intended for my little cousins Jessica and Elizabeth but they already had a bunch of boas so I got to keep it! After she left, Elizabeth and I were jumping on their trampoline with my boa and whenever a feather fell off, Elizabeth would scream, "PINK!" and go crazy! Then I sat around for a while and later went on a bike ride with my mom. That's pretty much it for "mi domingo" (my Sunday). ADIOS!

p.s. I said before that I finished my homework, here's my beautiful puppet, bask in his awesomeness.

Friday, May 5

Ok, I said I was busy!

First, I was so busy yesterday with Crew, dinner, showering, homework and stuff like that so I really had no time to post. Sorry. Anyway, a major event happened on Saturday, Kate had her Bat Mitzvah! Kate did really well with her torah reading and service and the party was so much fun. Lot's of dancing, eating, talking and a mini-war with the kids in Kate's Hebrew School class, mostly just David though. Here are some pictures.

Clare, Alli, and Nina breaking for food.

Chetna and Alli pose for a picture.

Kate and Bri getting their groove on.

And finally, Nina and Kara getting chummy.

That's really all to post about except for two small things:
1. Crew- I think I've definetly been getting better the more I do it but at the same time the more days I'm there the more boats I carry and the bigger the bruise on my shoulder gets. I'm really starting to enjoy it.
2. One of the Things Occupying My Time- I have three long term projects due on Monday; my family constitution, a graph of the characters in The Outsiders and my Trash-to-Toy project (the main focus of this topic). I'm totally loving it. Here's a picture of my beautiful marianette.

We had to make it out of materials that we would have usually thrown away. I used; confetti tubes, a mouth-wash container, bubble-wrap, play-doh (it's hidden), a clothes hanger (same with this), pony beads, match-boxes, dowels, waxed linen, and jingle-bells. What do you think of my clowny friend?

Not Really a Post at All

Ok, I'd just like to say I'm really sorry I haven't posted. I've been extremely busy! This afternoon I'll have pictures from Kate's Bat Mitzvah and info about school and stuff. I promise. If I don't come through you can throw tomatoes at mee or something. Adios!
