Adios Blog-o-sphere! Part Deux

So now that there isn't any lightning threatening my computer, I can actually make a real post with real words and pictures. Wow!
Yesterday and Friday were pretty busy due to lots of packing and shopping for things I needed. I think this is the most I've ever packed for Chingachgook. I'm still not sure how all of this

and a little more could fit in to this

without it breaking but it all worked out in the end and everything fit (minus my backpack, but that never fits). This year, I'm going to be a senior girl and I'm pretty excited (and a little nervous) about going to camp, even though this is my third year at Chingachgook. And even though I'll be busy, I promise to take tons of pictures to post when I come home. Adios for the next two (well, actually more like three) weeks!

Adios Blog-o-sphere!

So as you probably already know, I'm leaving for camp tomorrow. That means no knitting, no blogging, no nothing. I will take lots of pictures to post on my return home. Adios!
p.s. Just remembered to tell you, when I get home, I won't be able to do a nice long post for another week because my grandparent's 50th anniversary is coming up and my whole family is going to Cape Cod for a week. I'll miss you blog-o-sphere! Adios!

Almost NINE DAYS!

So now you know how long it's been since I last updated. I felt kind of bad about it but I've been very busy. I had a crew meet on Friday (that I don't really feel like going in to much detail about) where I raced two races, one in a single, one in a quad with Megan, Amy, and Liza. I also had to finish the book Eldest by Christopher Paolini by Friday (which I did) and that book was long! Just look at it!

The reason I had to finish it by then is that I borrowed it from Megan who I don't see outside of crew and I'm going to camp on Sunday(!) and missing crew on next week. In other crew related news, my our meet scheduled for Friday has been cancelled because the Albany coaches refuse to respond to the calls from my coaches which is kind of a bummer. Now that you've gotten a little background info, I can move on to what we all want to hear about, the knitting! I've moved on to my first sleeve! It turned out that the body was a bit too short for me at 14 inches so I knit one inch more and started on my sleeve. As of now, my sleeve is looking good.

What do you think? Adios!

Just Some Afterthoughts

I just remembered, the other day, I calculated how many posts per day (or ppd) Kate and I had. I would do Kara and Chetna if the could comment and tell me how many posts they have (hint hint). Kate's ppd rate is .561 and mine is .446 if I count this post in my post count. Other things I came up with: Kate has been on blogger since July 25, 2005 (358 days) and I've been on blogger since January 9, 2005 (549 days) and I have 245 posts. Kate has 201 posts.
Another (totally different) thing going on today is The Daily Show is celebrating it's tenth anniversary today. That's pretty cool I think! We love you Jon!

The Blogoshere's Gone Knitterly

Before I start the knitting madness, I'd just like to point out a couple of important dates coming up on my calender:
July 21st My next (and first) race for Junior Cs rowing this summer.
July 28th My second (and last) race for Junior Cs rowing this summer because on...
July 30th I leave for Camp Chingachgook for two weeks thus missing the end of summer rowing and Champs. I'm not to upset about it though, Chingachgook is going to rock!
So, since I haven't been doing any knit uupdating recently, here are some pics of my knitting status of days past.

Here's my sweater on Saturday afternoon, I have no idea how long it was because I forgot to bring a ruler and I can't locate anything in my Nana's house.

And now my sweater as of last night. At that point it was nine and a half inches long.

And now... are you ready for this, my sweater as of right now weighing (ok, measuring) in at 13 inches long! JUST ONE MORE INCH UNTIL THE SLEEVES! YAY! Can you tell I'm excited? I should probably also mention that I'm on my fourth ball of yarn.
And just so you know, High School Musical was in NEWSWEEK! Just thought you should know. Adios for now!

Cape Cod

As I told you, my family and I left for Cape Cod to visit my grandparents on Thursday and came back yesterday, To find out what happened in-between read on blog-o-sphere, read on:
So on the way to Nana and Popie's we listened to a book on tape like we always do, this time it was Chasing Vermeer. I think our drive was about four hours long but we still didn't finish it. Anyway, once there, we all staked our claims on which bed we would get. This is my bed:

Can you tell that my Nana's kind of a pack-rat? By that time, it was late and we went to bed. The next morning, mi hermanito began to do the same thing he always does at Nana's and Popie's, build a fort out of all of the pillows in the room.

Then later, we went to Craigville Beach. I didn't bring my camera because the last time I brought a camera to a beach, it broke.
On Saturday, we went to the National Sea Shore which was really nice. We were boogie-boarding for hour and I got a little sun-burned (we all did). Despite this, my family unanimously agreed that I'm the queen of boogie-boarding.
On Sunday, we went to the Boardwalk at Gray's Beach in Dennis to crab.

At first, it was really bright so I borrowed my dad's sun-glasses but then I couldn't see so I put my glasses on over them. That's how awesome I looked doing that.

We crab by taking a long piece of string and tying a bent paperclip to the end. On the paperclip, we put a piece of a hot-dog for bait. Sometimes we tie a small weight to the end of the string to make it sink better (crabs are bottom-feeders). Then, we lower the string down like you can see mi hermanito doing in the picture and wait for a crab to attach itself to the hot-dog. Once attached, we pull the string in and you find someone else close by us to grab one of the long-handeled nets to catch the crab (like my mom is doing). We actually taught two little kids named Kevin and Meg how to crab.

Kevin ended up catching the biggest one of the day! Next, we packed up the crabbing equipment and headed to Four Seas.

If you don't already know, Four Seas is just about the best ice cream place ever. They've won all sorts of awards and stuff and we always go there at least oncewhen we visit the Cape during the summer.

This time, I got Mint Chip ice cream. How awesome is that, mint ice cream that's pink?!?
After that, we pretty much just left. So adios for now blog-o-sphere, adios!

Supa-Dupa Fast

Just a super-quick post to tell you all that I'm going to Cape Cod with mi familia for a few days and I'll be back Sunday night, most likely with pictures galore and lots of fun stuff to write about. Until then, ADIOS!

p.s. Did you notice? My layout is finally perfect and bug-free!

The Past Few Days (¡Con Almendras!)

So, not too much has been going on lately, just Crew, friends and the Copa Mundial (I’ll cover that later). But yesterday, I got to see some friends other than (but including) just Kate. Yesterday at 12:30 met up with Clare, Eric, Joey, Kate and Zack at Dean Street Park. Zack came first, then Kate and I biked over. Eric’s mom delivered him shortly after and Joey and Clare were way late! We did a lot of swinging

Some hanging on the jungle gym

And of course, we did a lot of talking.

We talked about our summers so far (My most common response when I asked? “It’s been boring.” or something along those lines.). We talked about what we’re doing later this summer (Kate’s continuing Crew and going to Block Island, Clare’s just chilling out, Eric’s going to Florida and Zack’s cousin’s are coming from Chicago. I’m going to Cape Cod). We just talked like friends do about the most random things. It was a ton of fun. But eventually, we all had to go home.
Then later today, my family went back to the Rose Garden and we brought our cameras this time!

It was so beautiful there. Did you notice the statue? Doesn't it fit so well with the roses? Turns out, it's a variation on the Chinese character for "garden." There are just so many types of roses at the garden! Big old-fashioned roses,

ones just beginning to bloom, bright roses,

white roses

and roses that don’t look like roses at all.

Then, we all came home and ate lunch. I then went over to Muffin’s house to let her out shortly. By the time I was back, the World Cup Final between Italy and France was starting and Kate and her dad were there. The game was not a particularly exciting one. The two goals were in the first 20 minutes and after that the game kind of slowed down. It went in to over time and then in to penalty kicks where France missed one shot and it cost them the game. That’s right, Italy is our new world champion. I was kind of hoping for France to win but there’s always next time for them, I guess. After the game I went to Muffins again and took a long walk with her. Just for a finishing thought, check this out.

That’s right, Honey Bunches of Oats con Almendras. EVERYTHING IS IN SPANISH!!!!!!! How cool is that? I say, very. ¡Adios!

Edit: I've just gotten the photo thing sorted out so now you can actually see them. ¡Adios!

An Awesome Par-tay and The Fourth

Sunday night, we went to a party at one of our neighbors houses to celebrate a few beginnings and endings (as they put it). We'll call them "the M's." The M's party was really fun. Remember Muffin, the dog I sit for? That's their dog! I got a lot of great Muffin pictures at their party.

I know I as having fun eating, socializing and playing with Muff

but this is how Noah spent the entire party:

Attached to his beloved Gameboy. I'll admit, he was very tired but really, isn't he wasting his youth by never ripping himself away from that piece of blue plastic? Anyway, the party was great. We met a family we didn't know before and since the woman does college admissions for Skidmore, I got some tips on how to get in to college, sweet.
As for the Fourth of July, we didn't really celebrate in any way,

except for me wearing my red, white and blue earrings! It was a really nice and low-key day. In the morning, my family and I biked (my dad ran) to Central Park (in Schenectady, not NYC) to see the rose garden. It was really beautiful, I should've brought the camera but we thought it was going to rain and we didn't want our cameras to get damaged. Maybe I'll go back to take pictures another day... Anyway, later, I went to see The Devil Wears Prada with Kate, her Dad, her second cousin Alli(sp?) and Alli's Dad Eric. That movie was very funny. I highly recommend it. To finish, I think you should all know that today was the first day I didn't fall in at Crew. YAY! I fell in on Monday, and the water smelled like oil, it was so gross. ¡Adios!
p.s. For all of you soccer fans: ITALY AND FRANCE ARE IN THE FINAL!!! WOOOO!!!
p.p.s. For all of you knitters: I've finished my first ball of yarn on my sweater!

It's a little depressing that it's so short but as my mother reminded me, it's all in one piece instead of a front and a back. ¡Adios, for real this time!

Ok, So I've Lost (Brazil Dragged Me Down With Them)

Yes I have lost, it's true. I did just now realize that I had never even told you all about the "competition" until now but I'll do that now. So I've been watching a lot of the World Cup (another thing I haven't written about) with my dad this year and I'm really getting in to it. So, Dad, Uncle Scott, my cousin Ethan (who I should note, is only eight) and I printed out charts for who was scheduled to play each game from the round of 16 on. So far, out of the twelve games played, Dad, Ethan and I have six right and Scott has eight. I think France beating Brazil and Germany beating Argentina threw us all for a loop (except for the fact that Scott had Germany winning). Scott is definetly to win the prize (bragging rights) now.
Anyway, on a more physically painful note, Friday's Crew practice was tough! The river was still raging so we had to do dry-land exercises. First, we did a very short run which wasn't really that hard but the boys kept stopping to pick berries. Then we were split in to two groups. One group would do a 12 minute piece on the rowing machine while the other group did running, lunges, butt-kicks, grape-vines, or backwards running, then we'd switch spots. During the last piece we were going for power, to see how many meters we could "row" and guess who beat all of the boys? Me. Just thought I'd tell you. ¡Adios! (Or as they'd say in Brazillia, Adeus!)
